Valentine Hearts

Finally finished another of our Valentines Day decorations that Emily and I have been working on for the last week.  You would think we could work a little faster but with the beautiful weekend that we had we just couldn't quite focus on inside projects.

Don't have a lot of pics to post that show the project from start to finish so if you have any questions just let me know.  I have already purchased more supplies to make a few more of the hearts....may need to give a little valentine to my friends.  Hope you enjoy...

Valentines Day Decorations

Emily and I have spent the day crafting together...so much fun when I get to spend the day with my girl!!  She and I have been working on a couple of projects today all in preperation for the upcoming "LOVE Day".  Here is one of the projects we have worked on, the other one is not finished yet.  I have seen similar projects for this on other blogs but we added our own little variations.  Hope you enjoy it and that it inspires you to create your own Valentines Day decorations and to share that time and experience with someone you love.
This is a artist board that we had used in an earlier project that Emily had outgrown.

Got this frame at the thrift store for $1.99.
You'll see the black and white fabric used in one of the other projects.

Ended up having to use the gemstones from the big bucket instead of the package ones.

Here is the finished project, still working on the other projects and will share them when they are complete.

Dreams of my "Girly Place"

Progress is still being made in the "Man Cave" so before long I suspect the hubby project should be over and then he can get started on my "Girly Place".  I have been anticipating having my own little space for so long now that if SPRING doesn't hurry and get here I may just bust!  We have a little storage building already and I have been planning and envisioning how I am going to to fix it up for quite awhile now.  I have even been purchasing things along the way to create my perfect little dreamy "Girly Place".  I have the cutest lime green cabinets, that I bought at the Habitat Restore, in there that I plan to use for my flowers and gardening and whatever else I can think of. .  Even bought some old clay pots at the Restore too...can't wait to add some flowers to them.
After all of my planning and dreaming the hubby informed me that he planned to sell the building and build a garage.  Anyone want to guess how that went over??  After much discussion about where my "Girly Place" could be located I think we have come to a mutual understanding....it must be close to the house, not half a mile away.  I think he is onboard the same ship with me now and has even said he would just build me a new one (I ain't holding my breath on that one).
This is my inspiration for the whole project...isn't she beautiful.  This is the little cottage that I ran across on the Susie Harris blog http://www.susieharrisblog.com
and here's a little taste of the inside of her cottage
Notice the cute chandelier she has hanging.....here is my version that I found on ebay
Isn't it so cute???  I just love it and can't wait to get her placed in her new home.  So, not meaning to wish my life away but I sure do wish SPRING would hurry up and get here.  I'm thinking I may need to set a chair or two out on the front porch of the "Girly Place" and christen it with a big ole glass of sweet tea.
 Anyone wanna join me?

Man Cave Re-do

Okay, I've been a little slow in the postings lately so I thought since tonight was a snowy night and tv programming is a little slow I may as well post something new.  So many things are on my mind but I guess the one that stands out at this moment is.....are you ready for the great unveiling???
Here it is.....
Need another shot or two to get the full effect...

Now mind you I love to re-decorate and there are several things I would like to change in the house but guess what???  This is not my project, it is the hubby's project.

Even sweet baby Delilah was wondering what the heck when she ran downstairs...can you tell

All of this use to be in the closet that use to be here where the empty hole is...

(No the air hockey table wasn't in the closet)

Where will I put all of this stuff at now?  I had actually just started to put some of my crafting stuff in there so that it might be a little more organized and I would have my own designated space.  Guess I should have known better cause they do call these areas "Man Caves" afterall.  That's ok though I've already put in an order for what I want (I'll show you that at a later date)
So in case you are wondering why he is doing this I'll show you three pictures that should explain it all.

So now that you have figured it out I'm going to show you one last picture that I found on the internet.  This is going to be the pool table that I highly suggest he put in the "Man Cave".  Let me know if you think he will choose this one.

Anyone up for a game of pool?

Oops

OK time to confess, I got a little confused when I last posted.
Boy that is painful to say cause I hate to make mistakes.
Anyway let me start by saying that Lora is a great person who did get me a beautiful letter "P" just not the one I credited to her on my last post.  The "P" that I used in the wreath actually was a gift from one of my best friends, Cayci.  Sorry Cayci...I have already confessed my blundering mistake to her and being the wonderful and amazing person that she is she forgave me and even tried to help me feel better by telling me I had to much going on.
Actually this is just one of several things I goofed up on last weekend....I went to eat dinner at my mom's house and as I am standing there drooling over the banana pudding and pasta salad that my brother brought (I didn't say he made it, it was actually his wife who worked so hard to prepare it), it suddenly hit me...WAS I SUPPOSED TO BRING SOMETHING????  So feeling brave and pretty self confident that I wasn't (I just knew that my sister-in-law was feeling like Betty Crocker that day) I asked my mom was I supposed to bring something?
Anyone want to guess at what her reply was???  Well let me just tell you..."Yes, green beans".  Of course I replied back with, "No one told me".  So we go back and forth with the typical "Yes, I did"..."No, you didn't" routine till we finally called it quits.  Shhh...don't tell anyone but after I have had time to think it over, seems like I vaguely remember being told.
All throughout dinner I got requests to pass the beans or comments about how good they were.  Gotta love having siblings!!  Anyway just wanted to clear up my bumbling mistake and maybe this will help to remind me to slow down and listen more carefully.  BTW...Thanks Cayci, love ya!!!

Todays post is brought to you by the letter "P"

My front door has been bare since Christmas is over and it was driving me crazy.  I have been wanting to put something up but just couldn't think of what I wanted to hang there.  Finally today I figured it out and it all started with the letter "P" that a friend gave me for Christmas.  She had asked me this week what I had done with it and I told I hadn't figured out yet where I was going to put it.  I thought about it today and this is the result.  Thanks Lora, you're great!!!
This is what started it all.
Supplies from Hobby Lobby that I  purchased on sale today for 50% off.

A few more supplies from Hobby Lobby and a few supplies and tools I already had.

More supplies and playing with how I want the wreath to look.
Still trying to decide how I want it to look.
Its finally done!!!
Ahhh...in its place on my front door.  Now if only the crazy dog will leave it alone, for those of you who know the infamous dog, Brownie,  you know he has a bad track record when it comes to things on the front porch.  Pray that he doesn't decide to rip it off the door and tear it apart.

My Day Out

Today was my day out, hubby at work and kids at school==Me Time!!!  Every now and then we need a day like this, its good for the body, soul and mind or at least it is good for mine.  I love going to the Peddlers Mall, Goodwill, Habitat Restore and any other little second hand/variety store that I run across.  I just know there are treasures there waiting to be discovered so that they can come home with me.
Here is just a little of what I have found lately including something that I found today for my hubby.

Aren't these beautiful?  The date is 1943 and the colors are absolutely gorgeous, can't wait to find a place to hang them.  I love pictures, I'm always looking for new ones.  That seems to be the first thing I am drawn to when I go looking for stuff.

Doesn't this look like such a peaceful, quite, serene place?  Makes me wish spring and summer would get here sooner so that our grass will be green once again.

Got two bags full of this kind of stuff.  It brings back so many memories from my childhood.  I remember having these at home and I bet if I looked in all the right places I could still find them at moms house.   See the cute little rectangle one on the bottom left with the six boxes in the middle...I see a name stitched in it... PONDER ( as soon as I can find the perfect color thread).  I'm thinking black is the color I am going to use.  Got another one just like it that I'm going to fix and give to a special person for their birthday.  Better get started on it if I'm going to get it done.
And it's not always things just for me.  Got this little beauty for my hubby to go in his "Man Cave".  Still need to clean off the sticker glue from the bottom right corner but it actually looks better than when I brought it in...It was really dusty and dirty.  Got more stuff too but will have to wait and share it later, time to do the laundry.

For those of you who love junking/thrifting I wish you much luck in finding the perfect thing you want or maybe even finding something you never knew you wanted.  For those who don't junk/thrift give it a whirl you might just be surprised at how much you like it.

Good Night All, Sweet Dreams!!!

Looking Ahead

Christmas is officially over and all the decorations are finally down and put away for another year so what to look forward to now?  I'm really not one those people who dislikes winter, I actually like it but it seems like once Christmas is over there is nothing left to look forward to during this season other than the thoughts of spring and summer.
Soon there is be no more of this.
Or this
Or this (I'm talking about the snow, the cat is here to stay)

Or this (once again the cat is here to stay only talking about the snow)

But instead this is just a small sampling of what I am looking forward to.
Does anyone know what this flower is?  It's one of my favorites but I have no idea what it is.

and this..

and many of these I hope

and lots of beautiful blooms from this..

and a bunch of these in all different colors, you can't tell me this wouldn't bring a smile to your face and make you feel all happy and giggly.

And lots of days spent wacthing a lot of this..

and a lot of this too..

Not trying to rush time by but looking forward to long, warm days and golf, softball, swimming, working in my flowers and cookouts just to name a few.
By the way way have I told you how much I love my Nikon D90 camera ?
Hmmm...would like to know what others are looking forward to, please feel free to share.  Stay warm for now and think of what lies ahead, it will be here before you know it.
