Emperor's Silk ...so rich and beautiful

Finally it is FINISHED!!  Just finished waxing and buffing this sweet little table today.  The Annie Sloan Emperor's Silk chalk paint is probably one of my new favorites.  I have posted some pics in previous blog posts about this project and today I finally completed it...woohoo!

It started out looking like this

And today it looks like this

So glad this project is finished and I guess this little table will be heading to my shop.  Already have my next project started can't wait to see how it turns out.

In closing tonight I would like to ask all of you to take a moment to remember those that have lost a loved one today in the senseless act of violence that was committed in Connecticut.  My heart is heavy for them and I ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.  I was unaware of the tragedy that had taken place today while I was busy completing this project until several hours after it had happened.  It seemed so surreal that while I was locked away in the peace and solitude of my little shop there were others who were going thru the most horrible and heart wrenching time of their life.  I've cried as I watched the images of mothers, fathers, siblings, grandparents and friends grieving over the loss of a life taken way to soon and I pray that God will provide comfort to them in this terrible time.

Prayers for those in Newtown.

Ooh La La ...Red It Is

Finally found a picture of the little red table before its make over.  It was locked away on my old cell phone and that's where it almost stayed but I out smarted that ole thing and blue toothed to my new phone.  Ha...take that technology, I outsmarted you this time but I'm sure by tomorrow I will be out done again.

Anyway here it is in it former state of glory...

Notice all the other treasures I found that day.

It wasn't much to look at but with a little paint it would take on a whole new look.

It's base coat is Annie Sloan in Emperor's Silk and the stencil is done in Graphite.

Here is it sanded and covered with a coat of clear wax and .

And here it is with a little dark wax too.

I still have work to do on it.  At this time I only have the top of the table done but so far I'm thinking I like this color.  Now to see what else I can find that would look good in red but before I do that I guess I better work on the other items that I have sitting around waiting to be revitalized.

From Shab To Fab...

Remember this sweet little vanity I redid?

Any vanity as cute at this needs a fabulous vanity chair to go with it so I finally put my sewing skills (minimal skills) to work and took this wonderful little vanity chair from shab to fab.

Now, to paint or not paint the chair...that is the question.  Hmm...I'm thinking some of the red Annie Sloan paint I used on the little table may be just the thing.

What do you think...paint or don't paint?

Ooh La La...Red

Red anyone???

Not sure what it will look like when I get it done but after seeing this red on some other projects by others I thought it was GORGEOUS!!!

So, time will tell how will it turn out but for now here it is in its very early stages.  No wax, not buffed...nothing just the base coat.

Lost and found...

Did you ever put something up in a special place so that you would always know where it was?  Yeah me too, only I forgot where that was.  So after almost a year of looking, searching and even buying skeleton keys I finally found it.  It was my lucky day...maybe I should have bought a lottery ticket.

How what to do with the skeleton keys I've bought?

Facelift complete...

FINALLY...

I have used my Annie Sloan chalk paint on a few small projects but this was my first large scale project and it was so much fun I think I'm going to have to go get more colors to try.  I found this cute little vintage vanity and thought it would be adorable with a little TLC and a new coat of paint.

I forgot to take a picture before I removed the mirror.

I decided to strip all the paint off in case the old paint was lead based and how lucky for me, it only had four coats of paint on it.

Here it is with most of the paint off.

Here it is with a coat of Annie Sloan paint in graphite.

This is it after as Mr. Miyagi says...wax on, wax off.  I did cheat a little, notice the bucket to the left.  Believe it or not its a car buffer (laugh if you want but sometimes you just gotta think out of the box).   I borrowed it from my brother and yes I did use it (some) but there was a lot of hand buffing involved too.

My beautiful daughter and helper. Notice the attire and lack of shoes...can you believe its Thanksgiving Day and she's dressed like that.

Still on the fence about the drawer pulls...I kinda like them but wondering about changing to clear glass knobs.  What do you think?

Now to get a piece of glass to complete the vanity and its all done.  Guess I will be visiting Cox Hardware to get my glass cut.  Nothing like home town friendly service.

Ahh...the glow represents my happiness at finally getting this done.

New name, new style...same ole me

For those of you that have followed my blog you may notice there has been quite a change including the name of it as well as the design.
I have been an on again off again blogger but I hope to change that and go back to updating my blog more often.  I have a goal in mind but won't share it (just in case I don't meet it then no one will know but me)...

I have been busy working on setting up a booth in a couple of vendor malls.  One is Valley Treasures in Renfro Kentucky and the other is at The Shoppes at Vendors Mall in Somerset Kentucky.  Both of these places are just wonderful little shoppes with a welcoming, home town feel.

What will you find in my booths?  Well just about anything you can imagine, from vintage glassware, vintage pictures, vintage linens, vintage furniture (do you notice a theme here), painted furniture, repurposed items, hand made items, maybe a few new items...basically anything goes.

Vintage Tablecloths are a weakness of mine...I love the beautiful colors.
How about a vintage Wilendur?

Beautiful hand made bags by Cat's Carpetbags...love, love, love!
You won't believe what this secretary looked like before I re-did it.
Blue clock and vintage label Steampunk design resin pendant
Hand crafted jewelry made by me...(this one available on Etsy).
Maybe a  Jeannette shell pink milk glass hostess set, some swirl bowls or vintage pyrex.

Maybe a little something re-purposed and painted with Annie Sloane chalk paint.

Wouldn't this be perfect with some burlap, a red candle and greenery for Christmas.

Be sure to stop by and check out all that we have to offer.  I'm sure Addie will make you feel welcome and right at home when you walk in at Valley Treasures.  If you visit The Shoppes at Vendors Mall in Somerset Robin will be right there with a smile on her face just waiting to assist you in finding that perfect item.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Its Been Awhile...

I've been looking at my blog and since its been so long since my last post I thought I would post a picture of a little something simple that automatically makes me feel a little happier. I'm sure we all have that little thing that brings a smile to our face, right? This is by far not the most important thing that makes me smile, of course my kids, husband and family come first but there is just something about this that makes me think happy thoughts.

Are you ready? Here it is....

Yeah, I know kinda ridiculous isn't it, but doesn't a Gerber Daisy just scream Be HAPPY!

It does for me. So what's that one little thing that makes you smile when you see it?
