Wishing You and Yours Peace On Earth

Anyone feeling stressed yet?  If not tell me your secret!   For those of us that are stressed because of the lights that don't work (HUGE stressor of mine), a gift that you really need and can't seem to find anywhere,  the traffic, the crowds at the stores and on and on and on(the list is endless) please take a moment and a deep breath and just enjoy this most wonderful time of the year.

This is probably not what you had in mind when I said "Peace on Earth" but I think its a fun way to say it...

Yeah...I know its not your traditional Christmas tree but it sure makes me happy to look at it.  This brings a little peace to me and I hope it did you too.

Wishing you a Peaceful and Merry Christmas a little early!!

Looks Like Frosty Has A Wife

My daughters school project last year lead to this charming little snow couple.  She was supposed to create something using recycled materials so this is what we came up with.  Maybe we need to make another couple so they can have some friends.
The project was really easy and of course inexpensive considering they are made using recycled materials
This is how they started out.
Frosty was the first one we made but since he was so handsome we thought he needed a girlfriend.
Scrap fabric for his hat and scarf, the berry and greenery were from some old Christmas decorations, the eyes are cuttings from where we trimmed some candles wicks, toothpicks were used for the nose and arms (no they were not recycled they were new), the wax was candle making wax to which we added some old and broken white crayons and a little glitter to make him sparkle.

Same thing for Crystal (remember the movie where he got married).  Her hat is actually from some old dress up/play clothes of my daughters, pearls from an old play pearl necklace and her scarf was some left over/scrap ribbon.  The eyes, nose and arms are the same as Frosty's.

Now we have a couple of new items to use for our Christmas decorating and by the way she got an A+ on her assignment and we had fun working together to make them.  Here's a little shot of the happy couple together.

In the words of Parson Brown "I now pronounce you snowman and wife".
Hope you enjoy and hopefully we can make some real Frosty and Crystals soon.

Break Time Is Almost Over

Hope everyone has had a WONDERFUL summer!  I took a little break from blogging and just enjoyed good times with family and friends.  Yes...life is good!

In June the hubby and I celebrated 20 years of marriage and decided to take a short little trip to Destin Florida.  It was absolutely beautiful!  We stayed at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort which I would very much recommend to anyone planning a trip to the Destin area.  Its a great place for a couples only trip or a family trip as well.
You can sit and lounge on the beach.
Maybe even have a beautiful beach wedding...see the chairs being set up.

Dine on the patio at Finz Beach Bar.

Kids can play on the floating playground (we thought about giving it a try and decided it probably wasn't a good idea)
Then when you wanna enjoy the night life and special events be sure to check out The Village of Baytowne Wharf.  They were having a fishing tournament and we were there as the first of the boats were returning with their catches.

In July I got to spend some time with my wonderful family.  We had a wonderful two weeks together and the first leg of the trip was...can you guess (not the best picture)
DISNEY WORLD...who doesn't need a little Micky and Minnie time.

Me and my babies!!
A view of the Grand Floridian at night.
Even the topiary Mary Poppins make me start singing...a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down...
Gotta love a girl who wears Minnie ears and do you notice a theme with my sons shirts...GO CATS!!

The last week of our journey was spent at my most favorite place...Myrtle Beach.  It was a long journey and a week of sitting and relaxing on the beach was exactly what I needed after an exhausting (but fun) week at Disney World

I'm pretty sure we have a few pairs of goggles that we could add to the graveyard.
Sibling love at the beach

All smiles...
And finally summer is coming to an end and a new school year begins.  This is the first day of high school for her and sadly (for me) this is the first day of his last year of high school.  Glad my babies are healthy and growing up but boy where did the time go???

Time For A Warm Up...Please

It seems we are experiencing "Blackberry Winter" here in the wonderful state of Kentucky and probably in nearby states as well.
Now, I don't claim to be an expert on the different winters so, if I'm wrong about which winter we are experiencing please share your information with us.

That being said the simple gist of it is....IT"S COLD!!

Even though its cold I'm still ready to plant flowers and dig in the dirt...are you?  I have planted a few little things so far and my little scooter should look beautiful when the flowers begin to grow.

Remember that cute little antique wire basket I used in this post, well this is what I really envisioned it being used for when I bought it.

If you are looking for healthy beautiful looking flowers be sure to visit Owens Garden Center.  You can view their web site for directions as well as flower and gardening ideas.  In addition to flowers, shrubs and trees they have planters, yard art and even coco mat you can buy by the yard.

Be sure to check them out to see what they have to offer, just leave some for me because I plan to go back and get more beautiful plants.

My Vintage Scooter Re-Do

Well, its not a bicycle built built for two but it is a scooter built for flowers.  I found this cute little thing several years ago and have had it in my screened in porch all this time.  I had the best of intentions to paint it and fix it up but I got a little side tracked and moved on to other projects.  It was one of my projects that I started and never finished till now. So here is the big reveal...are you ready?
It started out all rusty and I sanded and sanded...whew!

Saw this color used in another blog awhile ago but I can't remember which one it was.
It took several coats of paint to cover it good.

Everyone needs a little Rich Plum in their life...right?
Its just waiting for flowers to be planted in it.

Finally finished and put back together!

Still need to do a little work on the handle bar but at least I have it painted and back together.

Now I'm debating about whether to keep it or sell it.  Hmmm...I guess time will tell.
